Load Index

Can your tires carry their weight?
Load Index image

A vehicle's weight, not to mention all that we pack into it, can be a lot for your tires to take. The tire's load index tells you just how much weight a tire can handle. A load index of 92 means the tire can take on 1,389 pounds at max air pressure. Take that times four (so, 5,556 pounds) and you've got all the weight your car can handle. Needless to say, you shouldn't install tires with a lower load capacity than the original factory tires. Doing so may cause a tire blow out, creating a hazardous safety issue on the road.
